We journey together

Sanctuary gatherings are a rich and precious time—dedicated to listening, collaborating, and brainstorming—to solve real problems. Through trust, commitment, openness and courage, sanctuary members cultivate powerful and valuable new insights and peer relationships. We gather in beautiful, relaxed, nurturing settings to focus on our work and have fun doing it!

How It Works

  • Gatherings

Executive Sanctuary circles are small groups of seasoned leaders who meet as a peer learning community. We meet every four months for a two-day, one-night getaway.

  • Guidance

Gatherings are facilitated by master coaches incorporating cutting-edge learning from the fields of business, nonprofit management, neuroscience, and organizational and team development.

  • Ongoing Support

We stay connected throughout the year between retreats. Members have the opportunity for regular check ins, executive coaching, peer support calls as needed, and social gatherings.

Benefits of the Executive Sanctuary Experience

 In “the Room”

Throughout our two days together we learn, laugh, celebrate, appreciate and problem solve all for the sake of healthier nonprofits and greater personal well-being.

Your well-being and the impact of your leadership are always a priority in the Executive Sanctuary. We typically begin our Circle at 10:00 am on Day 1 to allow ample time for an unhurried morning commute. Following personal and professional check-ins with each member, we dive into selected leadership topics chosen by Circle members.

We combine current and innovative leadership theories and practices with experiential exercises, general and small group discussions, and physical movement, such as walks in the beautiful circle venue grounds. We further explore the application of the selected topics to individual organizational concerns.

Recent topics have included: C-suite team building, DEI and revealing hidden biases, navigating complexity and volatility in the communities, building executive presence, changing scarcity thinking, donor/funder/volunteer relationships, creating powerful partnerships, increasing personal and organizational resilience, just to name a few.

Day 2 features a ‘Case Clinic’ in which each participant presents a specific challenge. We then talk through ideas, relevant experiences and potential solutions with the other Circle members. We apply the collective wisdom of the mind trust in the room to specific challenges.
